The Cause

Charles T. McGrath

THE CAUSE

A piece of bread! That explained the white missiles exploding against the windshield after he struck the figure in the street. Surely the rain slickened conditions of the roadway had aided the accident, but, his cause was too great to risk over a life. Besides, he was intoxicated.

Dislodging the last bit of soggy evidence from the wiper blade he swallowed it, without chewing. Stepping from the garage his wife’s greeting ordered him into dry clothing, “Hurry along now. Dinner will be ready as soon as Christian returns with the bread."

DRUG ABUSE

Total dependency on attitudes that act to tranquilize the body human into false illusions of security and salvation by minimizing the reality of the chaos and destruction caused by the attitudes themselves.

CHILDHOOD

Boot camp for religious and social indoctrination

THE COMPLEXITY OF THE HUMAN MIND

The belief in life after death, the will to kill or be killed for that belief, and the understanding that with sponsoring future generations, the balance of death and destruction will be assured; all the while, resisting the fact that all things live and perpetuate in PEACE.
